From a QR scan to a shared thank-you
The guest payment and the team’s payout are separate parts of the process. Here is what happens at each stage.
1. The guest opens the tipping page
Scanning a filotip QR code opens a page in the guest’s browser. The code identifies the person, team or service area receiving the tip. No app download is needed.
2. The guest chooses and confirms
The guest chooses a tip amount and reviews the processing fee and available payment methods. Payment is processed through Stripe after confirmation. Tipping is voluntary.
3. Tips are allocated
The venue’s configuration determines whether tips belong to an individual or a shared pool. For pooled tips, the selected distribution rules determine each eligible member’s share.

4. Payouts follow the account schedule
Depending on the configured payout method, collected tips are routed to connected staff accounts or to the business. Stripe verification and the connected account’s payout schedule determine when bank payouts can take place.
Where the business receives payouts, it is responsible for passing the tips on to staff. Review the terms and fee information with your team before launch.
